Obsidian: 4 out of 5 stars

The Lux series book 1

I never knew a book about aliens could be so good!

The hot alien living next door marks me. You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Jennifer L Armentrout’s writing style is so addictive!

Once I made a proper start on this I didn’t want to put it down.

The tone of the book is so fantastic and the characters are incredibly captivating – I know I’m not the only one who has a crush on Daemon 🙂 I love that Katy is witty and book obsessed. Her interaction with all the other characters is great and despite the premise, the development of the plot didn’t feel rushed or overarching to me. No real insta-love which is an added bonus.

What I really enjoyed about the world that Armentrout created here is that all the supporting characters – Daemon’s family and Katy’s mum – served a purpose in not only shaping the story but in defining the characters on a deeper level. It is very obvious in everything our main characters do that their family is a driving force in how they make decisions.

Can’t wait to continue with the rest of the series.
