Eleanor & Park: 5 out of 5 stars

It’s official, Rainbow Rowell is my spirit animal!

Two misfits.
One extraordinary love.

Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-olds—smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.

Eleanor… Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough…Eleanor.

Park… He knows she’ll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets to the punch line. There’s a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises…Park.

Eleanor and Park are still two of my favourite characters and this book fast became a favourite because of its realism and its heartbreaking romance.

Rainbow Rowell knows how to write a love story that pulls at your heartstrings! One of my favourite things about this story is that Eleanor is a curvy girl who doesn’t find herself liberated after the high school heartthrob realises he has always been in love with her – instead, she finds solace from a horrible family life with the help of a friend who becomes her soulmate.

The dual perspectives worked great in this book and it made watching these two characters fall in love all the more special. It also felt great as a reader to be able to delve deeper into each character this way.

Make sure you also Google the fan art for this because there are so many BEAUTIFUL pieces floating around.
