A little book with a big twist – go into this book blind.
A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
So this book received a lot of rave reviews and it definitely influenced my decision to pick this up…unfortunately I was not a huge fan of the characters or the storyline. Don’t let me put you off though. We Were Liars has such a catchy premise and if you are going to read this, my suggestion would be to go into this completely spoiler free.
I don’t want to say too much about what happens in this book because I think it would be hard to do without revealing the twist. What I will say though is that if you pay attention throughout, you will find the little clues that tie the story and the characters together.
The reason I didn’t enjoy this book is because the writing style just wasn’t for me and as such, I cared very little about the characters, the family dynamics and the summer romances.
