Quick fire review

This is the children’s classic rhyme told in a fun new way thanks to some great illustrations and a family of bears.

It was the night before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a … BEAR ?

Clement Clarke Moore’s much loved poem is brought beautifully to life in this gorgeous picture book with a twist- as Santa visits a family of bears on Christmas Eve.

Share the Christmas magic and experience a whole new retelling of the timeless Christmas classic.

Special thanks to Isobel from NurseryBox Books for sending me a copy of this gorgeous book. All images are credited to the author and the publisher.

I’ve loved this classic Christmas tale since I was a kid and this new illustrated version is bringing life to the timeless story. I love that this story is about a bear family eagerly awaiting the arrival of old St Nick and Christmas morning. The wintry backdrop is beautifully illustrated and every little detail breathes new life into this rhyme. One thing I do love about the illustrations is that they have an older style similar to books I read as a child.

“Now Dasher! Now Dancer!
Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid!
On, Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch!
To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!”

I read this with my 3 year-old Goddaughter and she absolutely loved the story. Her favourite parts were the rhyme, the reindeers and the presents because duh, who doesn’t love presents. She was captivated by the bright colours and wanted to give the bears a big hug. Of course Santa was a big hit and we both enjoyed the sing-song narrative style.

This would be a fabulous addition to any Christmas stockings or as a present in itself for any child this Christmas. I couldn’t recommend this enough!
