It’s the dead of winter and you are escaping to a tropical location. Hours in the sun with a book on your “to-do” list. What book do you bring with you?
Picking a book from my TBR…is there a harder question? If I had to pick, I would narrow it down to one of three. Possibly I would take all three then impose myself on a stranger and have them choose for me.
- Confess by Colleen Hoover
- Traitor to the Throne by Alwyn Hamilton
- Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
You see the first signs of spring and your heart beats faster with the thought of warmer days. You are escaping for a nice cruise to herald in the warm weather. What book do you bring to accompany you on the decks of the ship?
I always imagine that boats are full of mystery and as an avid horror movie buff, a shit tonne of ghosts are probably roaming around sipping cocktails. As such, I would bring something with a thriller edge so am thinking Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith. One, because I love those Cormoran Strike novels and two, because I only read two or three chapters and have never solved the crime.
Summer has arrived! You spend your weekends camping in the mountains. Fresh air, trees, animals, and campfires keep you company on your outing. What book do you bring to read next to the sound of the flowing creek?
That sounds calming AF. While I am beating off mosquitos who are chowing down on my delicious skin, I would probably want to pick something up that is super soothing. The first thing that comes to mind is a book I only recently heard of called The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World by the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu.
Fall is approaching. Nothing makes your happier than crunchy leaves turning red and orange and purple. You bring a book to the local park to read on a bench under the whispering trees. What book do you read?
Hmmmm, I am going to go with The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson. Even though this feels like it would be more of a summer read, I would totally love to read this with a coffee in one hand and a danish in the other. May have to hit up an audiobook so I have enough hands for all my snacks.
Sidenote: how great are snacks?
Christmas is in the air. Lights, and carolers, and shopping. You want to curl up next to the fireplace with a good book that reminds you of comfort. What do you curl up with?
I mean I have to say it. The ultimate go to: Harry Potter. I don’t know why I associate old Harry with winter per se but the childhood comfort feels are well and alive with these books.
Winter lasts sooooo long. You need something to remind you that the sun will come out again. What book to you read to take you away on the vacation you wish you were going on?
Road-trips are the ultimate summer go-to so I am thinking a re-read of Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson. A fluffy YA romance with sweet music, witty banter and road-trip vibes is a must when you’re stuck in a wintery mood.
Now comes the tagging. As always, if you have done this tag before or just don’t feel like it, I won’t hold it against you.
